From the director of Young Adam and the writer of Closer comes this stylish psychological thriller that features superb performances from a top-notch cast. In 1950s England, Max gets a top job at a psychiatric hospital and brings his wife Stella to live in the asylum. But she soon finds the role of professional wife too stifling and embarks on a passionate affair with an inmate who is mad, bad and decidedly dangerous to know. McKellen gives a performance of great subtlety as arch-manipulator Dr Cleave who hovers with predatory charm waiting to pick up the pieces as their affair boils over into an amour fou.
Much Ado about Jazz with Chris Gumley and Al Gurr at Upton Magna VH last night - absolutely brilliant night. Such fantastically talented musicians!

This venue at Tasley is extremely well organised, films are well varied for a mixed audience.

The organisers were very welcoming and offered drinks and cake as everyone arrived. The film (Ali & Ava) was different and gave an insight to other peoples lives. This is why I go to Flicks in the Sticks : to see other films rather than Box Office blockbusters and get a glimpse into other cultures around the world.
