Far from the limelight, Marc-André Leclerc climbs alone. On remote alpine faces, the free-spirited 23-year-old Canadian achieves some of the boldest solo ascents in history yet draws scant attention. Nomadic and publicity shy, he is reluctant to let any one record his brilliant, precarious climbs, and – on setting out to make a film about Leclerc – veteran filmmaker Peter Mortimer at first struggles to keep up with his elusive subject. But then, Leclerc embarks on a historic adventure in Patagonia that will redefine what is possible in solo climbing. An exhilarating documentary about a visionary climber who follows the path of his passion despite the stark potential consequences.

The organisers were very welcoming and offered drinks and cake as everyone arrived. The film (Ali & Ava) was different and gave an insight to other peoples lives. This is why I go to Flicks in the Sticks : to see other films rather than Box Office blockbusters and get a glimpse into other cultures around the world.
