New Micro Plays

Company Open Sky Theatre

Herefordshire theatre company Open Sky have created five new digital microplays that will be released on screens of all sizes from the 13th October 2020. The series is based on a theme of cultural polarisation and questions the idea that our differences define us. STILE by Kate Attwell, starring Josh Finan and Tom Greig, is a quirky, sweary take on economic privilege. HEAD OVER WHEELS by Matilda Ibini, starring Saida Ahmed and Michelle Tiwo, is a heartfelt comic look at mixed ability dating. THE CEREMONY by Iman Quresh, starring Amaka Okafor, Yaz Zadeh and Erika Poole, is a searingly honest piece about non-binary marriage. THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING HONEST by Tena Štivičić, starring Julie Hesmondhalgh, Connie Hyde and Maya Barcot, is a darkly humorous swipe at bigoted culturalism in the workplace. HOMEWORK by Emily White, starring Kyle Stead, Caitlin Drake and Victoria John, is a fast-paced comedy about the horrors of global warming faced by parents and children. Suitable for ages 14+ as Stile, Head over Wheels, The Ceremony and Homework contain some swearing. The project was conceived and directed by Open Sky’s Lisle Turner, guided and supported by their Artistic Director Claire Coaché and produced by Martina Klich from Wrapt Films. Supported by Arts Council England, Wrapt Films, The Elmley Foundation,Turtle Key Arts.
