Vice could be viewed as a bio-pic but it breaks out of the conventional mould by adopting a documentary style to tell the story of the rise to power of Dick Cheney who was vice-president to George W Bush. It also tells the story of Cheney's apparent abuse of that power albeit in pursuit of ensuring the safety of the American people. It is a film that might repay watching more than once to appreciate the various symbolism and tropes employed by the film-maker.
