Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (PG)

Director Ol Parker. Comedy/Musical/Romance

In this sequel to Mamma Mia!, Sophie learns about her mother's past while pregnant herself. “Last time we gave you the happy ending,” burbles the trailer: ‘This summer we’ll take you back to the beginning.’ Thus, we find Lily James as the young Meryl Streep in sunny ’79, trying on her new dungarees, and trying out three handsome suitors (Hugh Skinner, Josh Dylan and Jeremy Irvine), who will grow up to become Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, and Pierce “Pick-a-note-any-note” Brosnan. Flicks Advisor (comments from our film promoters)

The audience generally enjoyed the second half more than the first, probably because that's when the stars from the original film featured most. A few commented that the first half was a bit slow. However the Abba songs were as enjoyable as ever and if you wait right to the very end after the interminable credits, there is a funny little out-take that's worth the wait.

Enjoyed by the mainly female audience

You have to like it, even if some of the action is so predictable, because of the great music.
