The Martian (12a)

Director Ridley Scott. Adventure/Drama/Sci-Fi

Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Alien) directs Oscar-winner Matt Damon (The Bourne Identity) in this fantastically enjoyable sci-fi thriller with a star-studded cast including Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Damon is astronaut Mark Watney, presumed dead after a fierce storm on Mars. Alone on a hostile planet, he must use all his ingenuity to survive and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive – while, millions of miles away, NASA is working tirelessly to bring ‘the Martian’ home, and his crewmates plot an incredible rescue mission. Reminiscent of Gravity; it’s thrillingly filmed and epic in scale.

Starring Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Michael Pena, Kristen Wiig, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kata Mara, Jeff Daniels, Donald Glover

Flicks Advisor (comments from our film promoters)

Best si-fi since 2001 or blade runner. Keeps you on the edge of your seat all the way. You feel you are watching real events.

Our post-film voting system varied from Excellent to Poor with the majority indicating "Good". Not high-tech enough for real Sci-Fi enthusiasts and overly so for non-scientists! Flagged a bit in the middle and could have been 20 mins shorter but something a bit different, drew in several young people (rare!) and overall enjoyable.

A great film for all the family, age 12+. Quite a long film so make sure audience is comfortable!
