Les Miserables (2012) (12a)

Director Tom Hooper. Drama/Musical/Romance

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption- a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine's (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

Starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried and Helena Bonham Carter

Flicks Advisor (comments from our film promoters)

Mixed reception from some who had seen the live version. Rather a long film which would benefit from an interval. Music was great and some tissues were required!

A definite Flicks film - so visual, great rousing numbers. Do think it is a film many Flicks folk have actually been to the cinema to see but still get a good audience.

Good story but some of the singing was a bit dodgy
