Breathe (12a)

Director Andy Serkis. Biography/Drama/Romance

BREATHE is based on the true story of producer Jonathan Cavendish's own parents. It is an inspirational and highly emotional celebration of bravery and human possibility, a love story about living every breath as though it's your last. Adventurous and charismatic, Robin Cavendish (Andrew Garfield) has his whole life ahead of him when he is paralysed by polio whilst in Africa in 1958. Against all advice, Robin's wife Diana (Claire Foy) brings him home from hospital where her devotion and witty determination transcends his disability. Together they refuse to be imprisoned by his suffering; dazzling others with their humour, courage and lust for life.

Starring Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy, Hugh Bonneville

Flicks Advisor (comments from our film promoters)

8 five star and 3 four star ratings from a disappointingly small but appreciative audience,. A sombre true story, well told with excellent lead performances and well directed, Not a block buster and not too well known, but a story worth seeing. There were tears at the end!

Great acting by the 2 leads, but I came away somewhat unsatisfied that there was too much "Hollywood gloss" and not enough Grit to this compelling story.

Lovely, gentle film, much enjoyed by all
