La La Land (12a)

Director Damien Chazelle. Drama/Musical/Romance

Mia, an aspiring actress, serves lattes to movie stars in between auditions and Sebastian, a jazz musician, scrapes by playing cocktail party gigs in dingy bars, but as success mounts they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart.

Starring Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling

Flick Advisor (comments from our film promoters)

I had only seen the trailer - I am not sure I felt that it warranted so many awards - and quite a number of the audience agreed with me. A good film perhaps - but not up there with Oliver, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma etc. in my view and those of others tonight.

I found the film deserving of all its accolades, with the songs, dancing, and acting being superb. The cinematography was stunning, especially the dance scene overlooking the nighttime city.

Great Movie-Be prepared to be swept away in the La La land ride
