I, Daniel Blake (15)

Director Ken Loach. Drama

A 59 year old carpenter recovering from a heart attack, befriends a single mum and her two kids as they navigate their way through the kafkaesque impersonal benefits system. With equal amounts of humour, warmth and despair. Heartfelt and emotional until the end.

Flicks Advisor (comments from our film promoters)

Funny, sad, hard hitting, poignant, thought-provoking , frustrating. A round of applause at the end which is unusual for a non-barrel of laughs film.

The film was thought provoking. Audience huddled into groups after the film discussing the various aspects of the film. Many went out weeping at the end and praised us for putting the film on.

Excellent. Kept the audience engrossed all through. Quite emotional in places.
