Here's a list of films that will be screening with Flicks in the Sticks over the coming months. 

If you haven't been to one of our screenings before please give us a try, especially if you fancy a different type of experience from the multiplex cinemas (Cineworld for example).

A Day with Dietrich (Exempt)

Marlene Dietrich was one of the most famous film stars of the 1930s. She made the transition from Germany to Hollywood along with her long-time collaborator, the director Josef von Sternberg. Paramount Studios marketed Dietrich as a rival to MGM’s Greta Garbo. The day will start with a talk about her star persona and distinctive style and the special lighting system developed for her by Lee Garmes. This will be followed by a double bill of film screenings, beginning with Blonde Venus (Josef von Sternberg 1932) and ending with the comedy Western Destry Rides Again (George Marshall1939). Tutor: Catherine Constable (Professor of Film Studies at Warwick University) Refreshments and sandwiches are available at the theatre. In collaboration with Ledbury Film Club

A Man Called Ove (15)

Ove, an ill-tempered, isolated retiree who spends his days enforcing block association rules and visiting his wife's grave, has finally given up on life just as an unlikely friendship develops with his boisterous new neighbors.

A Room with A View (PG)

When Lucy Honeychurch and chaperone Charlotte Bartlett find themselves in Florence with rooms without views, fellow guests Mr Emerson and son George step in to remedy the situation. Meeting the Emersons could change Lucy's life forever but, once back in England, how will her experiences in Tuscany affect her marriage plans?

A Street Cat Named Bob (12a)

Based on the international best selling book. The true feel good story of how James Bowen, a busker and recovering drug addict, had his life transformed when he met a stray ginger cat.

A United Kingdom (12a)

A UNITED KINGDOM is a biographical romantic drama about Prince Seretse Khama, later to become the first president of Botswana, who causes a diplomatic stir when he marries a white woman from London in the late 1940s.

An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power (PG)

A sequel to The Inconvenient Truth, the follow-up documentary addresses the progress made to tackle the problem of climate change and Al Gore's global efforts to persuade governmental leaders to invest in renewable energy, culminating in the landmark signing of 2016's Paris Climate Agreement.

Another Mother's Son (12a)

Based on the true story of Louisa Gould, the drama is set during World War II on the Nazi-occupied island of Jersey. Lou took in an escaped Russian POW and hid him over the war's course. The tension mounts as it becomes clear that Churchill will not risk an assault to recapture the British soil, and the island-community spirit begins to fray under pressures of hunger, occupation and divided loyalty. Against this backdrop, Lou fights to preserve her family's sense of humanity and to protect the Russian boy as if he was her own.

Arthur's Dyke (15)

Twenty years ago, three men set out on the longest walk of their lives. They vowed to repeat the walk, but this time they are joined by a forty year old wife and mother who is in the midst of a mid-life crisis.
